Please read the user guide before editing any encyclopaedic data.

Important points to remember:

• Places with the same name must be distinguished by a county
• Places with a unique name must not be given a county
• If you add a new place that has the same name as another, make sure you give both a county
• If you remove a place delete the county from a place of the same name if necessary
• If you need to change data outside your branch area and are unclear what to do, ask support to step in
• Do not include names of rivers, hills or tourist attractions as place names - delete any you find
• Make sure place names are capitalised correctly
• Where places have alternative names, make sure the flags are not placed exactly on top of each other
• Do not add shortened versions of a place name
• Use "St xxx" rather than "Saint xxx" or "St. xxx"
• Do not include preserved railways with just one station
